MENTAL & PHYSICAL HEALTH GO HAND-IN-HAND

“My name is Katharine (Nate) Howard. I am 23 years old, and I am from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Currently, I am on a variety of medications that include Salbutamol, Symbicort, Cymbalta, Concerta, and Pantroprazole, among other as-needed ones. They treat a variety of both mental and physical health problems. Salbutamol and Symbicort are for my asthma and assist in breathing. Cymbalta is used to treat my anxiety and other mental health conditions (dissociation and anger disorder) in addition to fibromyalgia. Concerta is used for ADHD, and Pantroprazole is used for my gastrointestinal problems.”
Medications are for both mental and physical health, as the two affect each other. “I think it’s ridiculous that physical health is perceived as more important than mental health. Mental health can slowly destroy you like other disorders, but it’s seen differently because it’s not actually seen. Like with my fibromyalgia, nobody can see it so nobody thinks it’s that bad, when it really is. Mental health is just as important as physical health.”
